Background
Born and raised in San Diego, Mike graduated from Rancho Bernardo High School in 2004 and then attended Stanford University. During summers in college, he worked as a counselor at Camp Marston in Julian, CA. When it came time to choose between the laboratory career path or the joy of working with students, Mike chose to become an educator.
He obtained his B.S. in physics in 2008 and then completed the Stanford Teacher Education Program in 2009, earning his teaching credential and M.A. in Education. From 2008-2015 he taught various levels of physics at Fremont High School in Sunnyvale, CA. Mike eventually returned to San Diego with his family, and from 2015-2023 he taught various engineering, math, and physics courses at High Tech High North County.
He lives in Escondido with his wife, two children, and dog Maxwell
